A major fire broke out at the Balukhali Rohingya refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh displacing thousands – Footage shows flames and smoke engulfing the camp and hundreds of people standing watching emergency services battle the fire.

Cox’s Bazar is the biggest refugee camp in the world, with around 1.2 million people living in makeshift structures across 32 camps.

Hundreds of thousands of Rohingya fled a military crackdown in Myanmar that began in 2017 and have nowhere else to go.

The refugee camps are prone to fires- with several breaking out in 2022, and one that killed 15 people and destroyed 10,000 homes in 2021.
