Ethiopian Prime Minster Abi Ahmed arrived in Port Sudan to hold talks with Sudan head of sovereign council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. Both leaders are expected to discuss the ongoing war in Sudan and Sudanese refugees in Amhara region.
Several thousand refugees had been living in camps allocated to them in the Amhara region by Ethiopian authorities.
But the refugees escaped to a forest in May after attacks, abductions, and rapes in the camps.
Sudan has been gripped by war since April 2023, when fighting erupted between forces loyal to al-Burhan and the RSF led by his former deputy, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.
Since the war broke out, tens of thousands of people have been killed and millions more have been displaced and the humanitarian crisis has deepened.
