There’s been a more than one thousand percent increase so far this year in migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean to Europe from Tunisia.

That’s according to the EU.

Tunisia’s coastguard says it’s intercepted more than seventeen thousand people trying to cross since January compared to three thousand in the same period last year.

But there are thousands more waiting to try and thousands more making it to Europe.
