Opening of the 28th edition of the biennial Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO).
170 films out of 1200 have been selected for this year’s edition.
These include 15 feature films in competition for the grand prize –the Golden Stallion Award.
The selected films are made up of feature-length documentaries, short films, animated films, and television series, among others.
This is the first time the festival takes place since two military coups in 2022, the first one of which overthrew Burkina’s elected
then-President Roch Marc Christian Kabore.
