Belfast: The High Court hands down their judgment following a challenge to the UK government’s Troubles Act, by victims and survivors of violence during the Northern Ireland conflict.

The Act, which became law last September, offers immunity for Troubles-era crimes.

It has also brought an end to all new inquests and civil actions related to the conflict.

Victims and lawyers will speak to the media on their way into court.

Press conference by victims and lawyers will be outside court immediately after the judgment is handed down.

This is the first time that any court is going to rule on the Troubles.

If the court rules against the UK govt, it is expected that the UK govt will appeal this.

They can go to the Court of Appeal in Belfast first, and then to the UK Supreme Court, which is the highest court in the land.

If the families of the victims lose the case, they can also appeal to the higher courts.
